Spring Adventures

A few weeks ago we went hiking at Chatfield Hollow with Grandpa Dave and Grandma Sue.  It was a beautiful day.  Sammie loved watching the water wheel go around, and listening to the sound of the water.
We got a nice family photo - yay!
Sammie wanted to be a big girl and walk all by herself, albeit not always in the right direction.

Afterward, we had fun with bubbles back at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

Yesterday, Craig & I had a Sammie-free day while she spent some time with her grandparents, and we went on a great hike on the Tunxis trail in Southington.  It was a beautiful day.

We saw some beautiful fiddle heads.

 It was a perfect hike.
Today we went to the daffodil festival at Hubbard Park in Meriden.  The daffodils were all gone, but we had a wonderful day anyway.  Sammie loved playing on the slide and playscape with Daddy and Grandma Sue.

She even made it across the "lilly pads" with a little help from Daddy.

It was a perfect weekend, and we enjoyed every minute of it!

Veggie Garden Prep & other spring fun

This morning we started with a raised bed full of groundcover - after a few hours we had it stripped down to the soil.
We added some sphagnum peat moss and the best fertilizer, good old fashioned cow manuer. We tilled it in by hand & we're ready to plant!
Some of the groundcover found a new home around the mailbox, they look a little sad now, but after some water & sun hopefully they will like their new home.
All the Easter blooms were on sale at Shop Rite this week, so I picked up some hyacinths and daffodils to bring some spring color to our gardens.
Samantha enjoyed the summer-like weather this afternoon, chillin' in her shades.

She is one stylish kiddo.
