The Bronx Zoo - Saturday May 5th

Today we visited the Bronx Zoo with Bob, Steph and Gabe.  We had a fabulous day.

 We saw flamingos, and learned that although they get their pink color in nature from the shrimp they eat, in the zoo, they add food coloring to their food to make them pink.

 Samantha enjoyed seeing all the birds and animals.

 We saw some monkeys, and Sammie made monkey sounds - ooh ooh aahh aahh!

 There were ducks in the monkey exhibit too, QUACK QUACK

 Then we visited the Congo and saw some gorillas!

 After the Congo, we were off to the African Plains, there were giraffes and hyenas!

 This one came up to say hello to Craig and Sammie

 We also got to see some very furry baboons

 The lions were Sammie's favorite, the male even let out some very loud ROAR's for us!  It was cool.

 There were many peacocks displaying their beautiful plumage

 Steph and Gabe went for a camel ride - they really enjoyed it

 We took a ride on the wild Asia monorail and saw animals from all over Asia.  There were many different species of deer

 Tigers, of course!

 The tigers made Sammie silly!

 and some Gabe and Sammie snuggly time on the monorail, also super cute :)

 After lunch we went to visit the bears!  There were grizzly bears

 and Polar Bears!

 Then it was off to Tiger Mountain - Sammie loved the BIG kitty-cat

 In the Tiger exhibit there was a swimming hole with fish in it, Sammie was fascinated by the fish and loved watching them swim past

 I guess we wore her out, because we didn't even make it to the car before she passed out.

What a wonderful day of memories.
